Land.

It’s the only thing that lasts. It is worth fighting for, and dying for.

When you come from a place and people that understand this Biblical truth, it is harder to understand how people lay down for less.

The clip above is a small bit of ranch, some of it ours, some of it sold years ago to pay taxes. We have had this land since before Texas as a colonial expression of the American state. This is to say, we have been here since before Texas was a state.

But we have been stewarding land since at least the 1600s; through my grandmother, I am a member of the Craytons and Nichols families, first and founding families of Tennessee, Alabama, Conneticut and New York, when it became a British colony. And of course, Texas.
